Sachin’s First Century
Sachin is a former Indian cricketer who played cricket for the last 24 years in India. He was born on 24 April 1973 to Ramesh Tendulkar and Rajni. Ramesh Tendulkar named it after his favorite music director Sachin Dev Burman. At the age of eleven (1984), his brother Ajit introduced the young Sachin to Ramakant Achrekar, a famous cricket coach.
In the 90s team
Raj Singh Dungarpur, chairman of the selection committee, conveyed his vision of a ’90s team’, starting with Mohammad Azharuddin as captain and including young players like Anil Kumble, Sanjeev Sharma and Sachin.
First international career
Tendulkar made his Test debut against Pakistan in Karachi in November 1989 at the age of 16 years and 205 days. He made only 15 runs at the start. But he scored 215 runs at an average of 35.83 in that Test series. Sachin Tendulkar thus became the youngest player to make his Test debut for India. After that, Sachin took part in another series which was held in New Zealand. This series was followed by a tour of England.
Match at Old Trafford
In July 1990, the Indian team reached England. India lost their first match in this series. The second leg took place at Old Trafford. England batsmen were again in great form with a score of 519. It was Sachin’s ninth Test match and he scored a commendable 68 in the first innings.
India needed to score 408 to win against a bowling attack featuring Devon Malcolm, Angus Fraser and Eddie Hemmings. When Sachin came to bat, India were 109/4 with players like Sidhu (0), Shastri (12), Manjekar (50), Vengsarkar (32) scoring. After quickly losing Azharuddin and Kapil Dev, he teamed up with Manoj Prabhakar.
At this stage, India were 183 for 6 with two and a half hours remaining. Every now and then he went down the track to his partner to discuss it. He attacked the bowlers by lifting the balls to a long length and made them lose their power. They reached a wonderful unbeaten partnership of 160 runs for the seventh wicket. He had 119 runs to his credit and Manoj Prabhakar 67 not out. India eventually claimed a famous draw with a score of 343 for six, although the defeat was heavy. Tendulkar thus reached his maiden century on 14 August 1990, saving India from losing the match.
He is the only player to score a hundred in international sets and the first batsman to score a double century in One Day International cricket. Even when Sachin is at the top, he has a great attitude of respecting everyone. He is the man who broke the international batting record.
