Cricketers Dilemma – Resolve and Doggedness Part-2

“World Cup T20 is a miracle result of every match;

and happy Indians are part of every such sensation”

My heartiest congratulations to myself and my families to both the Indian and Pakistani cricket teams who, despite being considered out of the running, miraculously came back to prove their mettle. Even though the Indian and Asian fans did not pardon the cricket teams of the two nations (ICT) for their betrayal in the World Cup, the same fans have now put their teams as a diamond in their crown.

Is India and Pakistan’s entry into the final of the T20 World Cup (T2WC) a miracle or an endeavour?

I humbly say YES and loudly shout a big NO. Pakistan’s initial bowling effort in New Zealand to secure a first strong ticket to the finals is a perfect match of consistency and dedication, but the Indian cricketer’s victory over world champions Australia on September 22, 2007 in Durban was miraculous. How did each bowl impact the Indian team’s moves heading into the T2WC final? Sehwag’s finish made every Indian fan shudder, but in the end, it was his selfless start that made all the difference in the final match.

I would like to congratulate Indians for:-

· Bowling consistency aimed over mid-wicket that turned every batsman into kissing his stumps;

· Sreesanth’s good line and length overshadowed his more than fifteen wide bowls against South Africa;

· Team captain Dhoni’s faith at the end in Joginder Sharma; and

· A fine knock of 70 runs by Yuvi at the most critical time.

My readers would appreciate that World Champion Australia did not qualify

the final was as miraculous as the Indian teams victory. At one point, when Hyden sent a loose delivery over the fence, it was felt that Australia would qualify. Why Australia lost is also attributed to Indian team effort? Australia, despite having a run rate of over 7.75 per over, was always seen vacillating on the pitch. What do I feel that; if India had not missed three runaway chances and dropped two priceless catches; the entire Australian team could have been singled out much earlier.

Smith’s conceding the loss of the match sealed South Africa’s chances of progressing to the semi-finals, gripped by deep pain and remorse. Despite winning the match, I would like to point out a few glaring blunders by the Indian players.

One; wrong field placement;

Two; dropping catches at regular intervals;

Three; the players moved with the stroke of the batsman rather than the ball;

Four; poor line and length of bowlers except Rudhra;

Five; lack of will to play wholeheartedly; and

Six; the poor layout of the field provided several boundaries that could have been stopped.

However, Asian fans are jubilant after the departure of New Zealand and Australia, but the bait market world tripled their sales. No one can predict the amount of bait money that will change hands in the India-Pakistan final? Guess it can be over a million or a trillion rupees overnight. Every ball after the 10th over shuffles rupees here and there. The role of the bait market in determining and predicting the outcome of each match is so incomprehensible that even the baiter sometimes doubts his money. Big fish operating quietly from safe skies have big stakes. The T2WC Final on September 24, 2007 would rock the world of lures. The unpredictable outcome of both sides reveals something fishy. I hope it’s not the big secret transactions in the field that changed the course of the final like fate or fighting back to win.

If India is to win and any of them can read my article, the Indian players must:

1. move with the ball rather than after the batsman has stroked the ball;

2. stay active and warm up rather lazily while standing with folded arms;

3. not drop any catch;

4. earn every opportunity of exhaustion; and this can only be achieved when the Indian players have practiced enough to hit the stumps directly from any inner circle to the stumps in the hands of the press or the keeper from anywhere in the field;

5. try to prevent every boundary shot;

6. Always space the field on my Stand Line Behind (SBL) technique to stop quick deliveries in the throw and miss field;

A few tips for the balls that would matter in every delivery they bowl. Just like T2WC

Game of Strokes (GOS), I believe my tips are hidden in Rudhras’ storm against South Africa on 20 September 2007 and Sreesanth’s against Aussies on 22 September 2007. I will work out my match result according to my famous NANAS Tips formula;

Never throw a full toss, short serve unless it is a targeted bouncer

Avoid leg wicket deliveries, avoid wides and extras

No bowling when angry, otherwise all deliveries would meet the fate of Yuvi’s delivery against England and Broad against India;

Always aim in the middle of the goal

Shoot straight deliveries at a chosen point between the batsman and a good length; and

In the end, a stroke of fate coupled with an opponent’s hiccough caused our team to reach invincibility. I hope every cricketer who follows the NANAS guide will be proud of their team. All the best to India for V and Pakistan L. Comments from readers are requested at [email protected], [email protected]
