PCB – An Example of Indiscriminate Decision Making
Winning matches is about keeping your nerve. When Pakistan lost the Test in Sydney, it was just a nervous game by the players. PCB on the other hand has dropped so many players and imposed bans and fines on so many more players. There is absolutely no justification for PCB and the whole act is just a bloodbath. Players like Umar Akmal are the future of Pak cricket. Stars like Younis and Yousuf have always given their best for the cause of the team. Somehow the Pak team are not as professional as their Australian counterparts and so they did not finish the job of turning the session into an easy win.
This is not the first time the PCB has acted indiscriminately. Let’s take an example where some players were arrested for drug use before IPL. Let’s also look at the incident where M. Asif was banned for fighting with Shoaib Akthar and also for testing positive before the IPL. The whole world knows that Mohamed Asif is a player who gives his best and has had some brilliant spells for Pak against Sri Lanka, India and Australia. PCB makes him a scapegoat for anything and everything. He doesn’t seem to be aggressive about suing the PCB and is taking everything in stride.
It is very unfortunate to see that the PCB is against the wheel of the players team. The PCB should simply set up a committee to oversee the performance and make sure the players work well as a team and deliver when it matters most. Simply accusing innocent players of disciplinary actions is not justified at all.
Perhaps some superpower should now bring all the boards under its administration. This act by the PCB is akin to the state government calling for a national emergency. PCB should be mediated by some higher authority and such indiscriminate acts by governing bodies like PCB should also be monitored for corruption.
