This showed the value of hockey in India. Fuerste also admitted that India’s fan following in hockey is quite large compared to Germany. This revelation is not so surprising as hockey is India’s national sport, but then again, Germans are avid football fans.
Recently, another highlight was added to Sardar Singh’s profile as he was selected as the captain to lead the Indian Under-18 hockey team in the second round of the Hero Hockey World League to be held at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium from February 18. to 24.
