Offices are known for numerous drafts of unnecessary documents, printing the tiniest emails for “accounting purposes” and insisting on doing everything on paper. All of this waste can be avoided simply by being much more considerate and frugal in what you print. Electronic data retention exists for a reason, and today there is technology that allows virtually all materials to be easily reviewed and corrected online. If you really need something to be on paper, print on both sides. Distribute things like manuals and catalogs over the office network instead of printing a copy for everyone.

Go for reusable items. Styrofoam cups and plastic bottles can easily be found in waste bins at any workplace where they will eventually go to a landfill or other waste site. Instead, employees should bring their own reusable coffee mugs and water bottles that can be easily washed and refilled for unlimited uses.
