World Cup Promotional Products From South Africa
I just heard about some promotional products that I just came across on radio 5 live. The interview that took place was at about 19:10 GMT. A South African gentleman on the radio talked about protective helmets and horns printed in the colors of all the competing teams.
I was forced to Google the fabulous names I had just heard on the radio. I invented the Vuvuzela (pronounced booboozayla), Sockzela, Zazu & Makoya football fan helmet.
The gentleman went on to demonstrate six different horns with delightfully colorful names and six different mini tunes. He started with long horns and proceeded to blow mini tunes from the largest to what he called the Mini Vuvuzela.
Like other advertising products, they can be branded in many different ways. Some have all-over printing, some can be printed in one position, some all-over, some have flag attachments with a large print area to really make the most of the occasion, and some can even be decorated with beads. A really fantastic range of printing methods that will suit any logo of any size required.
They look fabulous when you see them individually, but we can even see the teams in unison and on TV, which could look and sound fantastic and really set the mood for the World Cup in South Africa.
Finally, I was excited about these promotional products and want to feature them on my website. Then I started thinking and is this really a product that the UK and Europe would buy?
Other promotional products he talked about were helmets for football fans. Why would you need a helmet for a football game? Apparently it’s as bad as it sounds. Most of the workers wore a helmet to work and went straight to football after work. Once there, helmets would be worn to protect themselves from thrown objects.
Over time, protection became a fad and someone was able to seize the marketing opportunity and people are now extremely proud of helmets.
In summary, I think I will wait and see how the pundits label the World Cup horns, the Vuvuzelas, over the next few months during the World Cup in South Africa. As for the helmets, I don’t think so. However, I understand what a great idea it was for South Africa and maybe I could market and sell them elsewhere.
