Can One Man Change The World?

Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) refused to worship the Babylonian king Nimrod. Nimrod’s followers offered to throw him into the fire. Therefore, they agreed to cut down all the trees in the forest and burn them for days. The fire flared up so much that no bird dared to go there for fear of being burned alive. Then they built a crane and lowered Prophet Ibrahim into the fire through the crane. Nevertheless, Prophet Ibrahim kept full faith in the Almighty. The Almighty finally rewarded him. God commanded the fire to cool, and it did. Therefore, with faith, one person was able to find a way out of certain death.

TARIK IBN ZAYID

It can be said that Prophet Ibrahim was not a mere mortal. He was the chosen one. He was a special prophet of Allah. You and I are mere mortals. How can we gather the courage and strength of the prophets? History records the story of the Muslim leader Tariq Ibn Zayd, who in 711 AD had an army of 7,000 men to fight a superior enemy army numbering in the tens of thousands. In the ranks of the Muslim army, there was a fear of being completely defeated by the enemy. When Tariq learned of this, he ordered his loyal men to burn the boats and thus their only safe way home.

HISTORICAL SPEECH

After the boats were burned and the army seemed defeated, Tariq assembled them by the sea. In the background were their burning boats, and in front of them was the enemy’s army. Tariq turned to his men and said:

“Brothers in Islam, in front of us is the enemy, and behind us are the depths of the sea. We cannot return to our homes because we have burned our boats. Now we will either defeat the enemy and win, or die the death of a coward drowning in the sea Who will follow me?

These words electrified the ranks of Tariq’s army and they fought with courage, valor and faith. Tariq’s army defeated the enemy a hundred times larger and conquered Spain. They were able to survive against incredible odds because they burned their boats and fought for dear life.

POSITION OF PAKISTAN

Pakistan faced a similar crisis in 2014. The country’s economy grows by only 2%, and inflation – by 13-17% annually. This leads to a terrible divide between the rich and the poor. The rich have all the luxuries of life and are getting richer by the day, while the poor are losing shelter, security and even food on their plates. The current government consists of people who are industrialists, feudal lords or the business class. The poor are the working class, the common population, and the commoner. No matter how skilled a poor man or woman is, there are no jobs for them. Education, health and basic necessities are beyond the reach of the common man.

IMRAN KHAN

At this critical moment in the lives of the people of Pakistan, Allah has gifted them a savior in the form of Imran Khan. Imran Khan entered politics as a lone ranger about eighteen years ago. Khan has a stellar track record in his profession. Credit of this cricketer-turned-politician:

  • Bring home the Cricket World Cup trophy;

  • Vice-Chancellor, University of Bradford;

  • Oxford University Scholarship.

  • Through his charitable hospital, Shaukat Khanum’s deserving patients have received over $160 million worth of free treatment over eighteen years.

Khan was married to one of the richest women in the world, Jemima Goldsmith (currently Jemima Khan). Today, she serves as editor-in-chief of Vanity Fair. Khan could live a life of luxury with fame and fortune till his last breath.

Khan chose the path less traveled. He went out to ask for the rights of the common man. He dropped everything and locked himself in a one-room container to plead for the rights of his people. Reader’s Digest named this iconic leader “Pakistan’s Favorite Son”has been battling extreme monsoon weather for the past month with a crowd of over 50,000.

His appeal to the people of Pakistan can be seen in this video by Umar Jamshed here:

Khan took an oath from his people to jump into hellfire against the current government. He tells them that everyone is different. That one person can start a revolution and change the world. He tells the poor, downtrodden, frightened people of Pakistan that if they flee, they will be forced to return to a life of deprivation, but if they stand firm and fight evil, they will succeed, just like Tariq Ibn Zayd’s army.

Today, the people of Pakistan must take this decision. Will he commit and fight or will he resign and run for office? This decision will matter. After all, the fate of our nation and the future of future generations are in our hands.

Tomorrow you may face an impossible situation. You may fear for your very life. But remember Prophet Ibrahim, Tariq Ibn Zayd and Imran Khan. One person really can change the world. The power is yours.
