Christiano Ronaldo To Real Madrid? No Chance!
Recently, there has been a lot of speculation about the future of Christiano Ronaldo. He is rumored to be heading to sunny Spain to join Spanish champions Real Madrid.
The rumors intensified after Manchester United’s Champions League triumph over Chelsea in Moscow. Ronaldo was reported not to make promises to anyone about his future. He said he would not promise his mother, Sir Alex Ferguson or Manchester United fans.
I strongly believe that Christiano Ronaldo will be at Old Trafford next season and why not? Manchester United is the champion of Europe and undoubtedly the best team in the whole planet. Why would he want to move to Real Madrid who were destroyed when they faced Roma in the Champions League.
This is the same Roma team Manchester United scored seven goals to one at Old Trafford in 2007 and also did a double against them in 2008.
Gone are the days when we believed that the only way to win continental laurels is by playing for Real Madrid and AC Milan. Milan will not even play in the UEFA Champions League next season as they finish 5th in the Italian league.
Back to Cristiano Ronaldo.
The only thing that could make Ronaldo leave Old Trafford this summer is if he has a tournament away from this World Cup at Euro 2008 and a club comes in with £100m to tempt Manchester. No club can refuse such an attractive offer.
Anything but that, I’m sure he’ll stay the Sir Matt Busby way.
However, Manchester United fans know that Ronaldo is not a game for them forever. He will still leave to play in another country. He will probably play about 2 more seasons. This will take his number of years at Old Trafford to seven.
I’m not sure anyone can complain about the loyalty of a (foreign) player who served for seven years.
