The difference apparently between the two cuts of meat is that they are from different places in the ham and are also usually cured differently. Also, Canadians give the world the delicious, heart attack inducing maple syrup to drench our pancakes, such a great job by them and many thanks Canada.

Even Canada allegedly has a fully functioning professional soccer league, although mentioning this fact to people from our country usually results in quizzical looks and questions about when that happened. However, the CFL (Canadian Football League) has been around since the middle of the last century, 1958 to be exact, which is longer than the NFL has been around in its current state. The league is divided into an East and West division and the eight-team league makes up its season by having each team play a different number of games against each other in the league during its nineteen-week season. In fact, the Gray Cup, the trophy awarded to the league champion each year, is the second oldest sports trophy on the North American continent behind hockey’s Stanley Cup.

Typically, for some reason or another, most Canadian celebrities eventually make it to America and become famous here. One of these Canadian imports to the world of entertainment is Mike Meyers, former Saturday Night Live cast member and current actor in some hilarious and truly terrible comedy films. Also Canadian, and bringing some shame to her country by being so weird, is pop/punk singer Avril Lavigne, who hails from the province of Ontario. Finally, “actress”, PETA supporter and member and general celebrity Pamela Anderson is from Canada.

Canada, despite going largely unnoticed by many Americans, has actually contributed some interesting things to the world and should be recognized as a worthwhile country. If it weren’t for Canada, what would all the people who spend their weekends flipping between Canadian football and Austin Powers movies while eating Canadian ham drenched in maple syrup do with their time?
